Our Project
In 2024, the East London Black Women's Organisation [ELBWO] celebrated its 45th anniversary. To mark this milestone, the YHP began a public history project to commemorate ELBWO and its history of community organising. YHP met with the founders, members, supporters, and families of ELBWO to build a picture of its journey through oral history. We would like to sincerely thank all project participants for welcoming us into their homes and allowing us to share their stories. View our list of credits.
Outputs
YHP produced two project outputs; a documentary film and an online archive. The film traces ELBWO's origins, its impact on local communities, the challenges it faced, and its legacy as a women's organisation. The online archive is comprised of archival documents and photographs shared by former ELBWO members.
